About Erin

Erin Kay Flatley

Erin and Jen snorkel

Erin Kay Flatley was born in Dunedin, Florida, on August 22, 1978. She was the second child of Barbara and Carl Flatley, who had 3 children. Erin attended St. Cecelia and Clearwater Central Catholic High Schools and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2000 with a degree in Child and Family Development. She was earning a masters degree in education when she passed away on April 30, 2002.

Erin was a happy and healthy 23-year-old girl who was in the prime of her life. She was a devoted sister, a best friend, a loving daughter and a consummate “crowd pleaser.” She was excited about a future teaching elementary school children and was looking forward to graduation from USF. On April 24th she entered the hospital for a minor surgical procedure. Six days later, she lost her battle with sepsis. We miss her hearty laugh, her readiness to please, her allegiance to family and friends, her kind and gentle spirit, and, above all, her ability to ALWAYS brighten the day!
